Who is Sierra Nevada Masters?
Sierra Nevada Masters is a NON PROFIT corporation Founded for the purpose of providing adult aquatic activities for health, recreation and competition. We offer these activities for people 19 years of age and older to achieve physical fitness through structured practices which emphasize stroke mechanics, training techniques, and goal setting.

Requirements to Join
You need to be able to swim 25 yards (1 length) of any stroke. That's it! If you commit to swimming three times per week, we can have you swimming a mile in a month, possibly sooner. We do recommend that you have a medical examination before beginning this program. Sierra Nevada Masters is a member of Pacific Masters Swimming and United States Masters Swimming. We Compete on a Local, National, and World Level.

Who Swims with Sierra Nevada Masters?
Swimmers range in age from 19 to 89+, with a wide variety of swimming skills and goals. Some are almost beginners and others have had considerable competitive experience. About 90% of our swimmers swim for fitness only, about 10% compete in swim meets and open water swims. Many area triatheletes take advantage of our program to gain skill, speed, and knowledge for their events.

How are Practices Organized?
Workouts are divided into several skill levels so that you swim in a lane with people of your own ability. Our Practices last for 1 1/2 hours and offer a variety of training techniques and emphasis on stroke mechanics. Distances completed range from 500 to 5000 yards, depending on a swimmer's skill level. New swimmers to our program are encouraged to take plenty of rest time during the workout and not push themselves to complete a full workout.
Sierra Nevada Masters is an adult swim program designed to help you get started in a fitness program that will benefit you for the rest of your life.
